The Most Popular Destinations in Australia

If you are considering a big holiday next year and your final destination is Australia, with such an immense country to consider, it can be difficult to know what the best areas are to visit and explore.

Everyone knows that the largest city in the country, Sydney, is by far the most popular destination for people travelling to Australia. This is home to the most iconic symbols of the country: e.g. Sydney Harbour Bridge and The Sydney Opera House, and you will probably feel as though you have never been to the country, unless you can catch sight of one of these landmarks.

The other big cities in the country also attract a fair share of tourists: Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane all do very well; but it is interesting to note that the actual capital of Australia, Canberra, really is not even on the radar of most people. But then, this is quite a small city compared with all of the above.

The interior of the country is renowned for being an extremely inhospitable place, however, there are two destinations that are actually very popular with tourists: these are the town of Alice Springs and the famous landmark of Uluru Rock (Ayers Rock).

Up in the far north of the country, as the country reaches closer to the tropics, the city of Darwin is gaining increasing popularity amongst visitors to the country. As you can see, with such a diversity of places to explore when down under, it is a good idea to allocate at least a few weeks to your holiday in this part of the world.
