Regardless of this, travel to France by Brits has always, and looks set to continue to be, extremely popular. Only a few miles away, relatively speaking, Brits in their millions travel there every year to visit Paris and other parts of this vast country. It has a perfect mix of history, scenery and culture.

There is a huge range of accommodation on offer, from luxury villas in France to quaint bed and breakfasts and everything in between. These can be booked online from the UK or through traditional high street travel agencies. (more...)

More than a Break from Work

Everyone likes to take a break from work, to either go on holiday at home or abroad. However, taking a break does not always mean just lazing by the sea and drinking beer! There are many other ways to have a holiday.

Going on one of the family activity holidays that are advertised online or in travel agents is one such different way to take a break. Forget work, and go white-water rafting, hiking or horseback riding with the family instead!

The Internet and How it has Changed Travel

Although we perhaps take for granted the internet, and what we can use it for, it has not really been with us for a very long time in its current form. Sure, it has been around in a basic form for twenty years or even more, but it really is only in the last ten years or so that it has had a noticeable impact on society.

Let's take travel as an example. Ten years ago, flights were to be had mainly through travel agencies, and hostels booked by phoning numbers from a Lonely Planet guide book. Nowadays, we take for granted that we are able to search for cheap flights to Darwin online and book it, or are able to book a hostel anywhere in the world from in front of a computer.

Perhaps the most radical way that it has changed travel, though, is by the ease of communication. Time was that a person had to collect a letter from 'poste restante'. This letter was often posted a month or more before the recipient opened it. Email of course changed all that. (more...)

Pleasantly Surprising Travel Deals

Whilst people in their hundreds of thousands still book their holidays through traditional high street travel agencies, increasing numbers of people are choosing to do so online themselves, and with good reason. The best travel deals are often to be had online.

There are several ways that booking a holiday online is better than booking it through a travel agency. Some of these come down to price, whilst others come down to holiday options and ideas that you may not otherwise have thought about.

One of the ways to get a great deal online is by saving on the cost of flights. Budget airlines quite often run promotions where they heavily discount seat prices. This can potentially save hundreds of pounds from the cost of a holiday. (more...)

Plus, there are so many ways to get to where you want to go. If you are travelling within your own country, then you may choose to drive to get to your destination. This is a great way to get a lot more site seeing in along the way and see many places that you would otherwise fly over.

However, if driving, you have to make sure that you have the car insurance in place in case anything should happen. Canadian travel insurance and similar insurance can cover any travel related expenses that occur if an accident should happen. (more...)

Dressing Comfortably for Air Travel

Whether you are flying to America on business, or you are headed for a central London hotel you will find that your journey is rendered long and unbearably uncomfortable if you choose the wrong outfit to travel in.

Tight jeans, restrictive shoes, and anything in a colour that will show sweat marks and food stains are bound to make you miserable for the duration of the journey. In order to avoid this kind of difficulty, you will need to put some thought into the business of getting dressed before you fly.

To begin with, you will want to wear clothes that are fairly forgiving: this means finding trousers that are a little on the loose side and conducive to long periods of sitting down. Jeans can be perfectly fine, however, if they are at all clingy, you will doubtless find them to be unbearably restrictive. (more...)

The Rising Cost of Travel

Having spent nearly £6,000 on my travel in Australia and when I sat back after and realised what poor value for money I had actually received from the trip, I have had to learn to box much more clever when it comes to booking travel in the future.

Holiday package prices have risen exponentially over the last 10 years or so. Although there are so called budget airlines in existence today, such travel possibilities are a figment of the company’s own imagination and these airlines often work out dearer than the ones they were introduced to compete against in the first place.

Even the holiday companies that were known for great value for money are usually very expensive today. It really is not helpful that they add a good couple of hundred pounds on the overall package price and it is usually the case that you will only find the very best deals on holidays if you book within around 6 weeks of travel. Organising a Ski Holiday

If you have never planned a ski trip before and you are heading up to the slopes this winter, then you may, justifiably, be feeling a little anxious. A successful mountain escapade takes a lot of good planning and organisation, and, unless you have lots of experience, this can seem daunting at the outset.

As long as you adhere to a systematic plan of action and you structure your preparations intelligently, however, you should find that you can put together an exciting, interesting vacation. A little guidance will not go amiss either, and you will benefit from seeking the advice of seasoned ski holiday veterans.

To begin with, you will need to organise a basic budget. Decide, honestly, how much you are willing to spend on your holiday and make sure that you respect this figure at all times. Remember to factor the cost of winter sports insurance for skiing into the equation; this sort of admin expense is just as significant as, for example, your accommodation. (more...)

Seeing Far More of Our Own Country

So, whilst many more people are tending to stay home this year: as the cost of foreign travel has reached completely disproportionate levels now, it is an excellent idea to think about getting out and exploring the United Kingdom in far more detail than we may have been used to in the past.

Whether you decide to take your own car, a motor home or even Sprite caravans, driving around the country and completely going with the flow is perfect for discovering parts of the nation that you would never have known existed.

There are numerous parts of the country for you to discover. Within England you have Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset, in the south-west; the Cotswolds and Malvern Hills in the west; the magnificent Peak District in Derbyshire; and lest we forget the hugely popular Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Exploring New Ways Of Travel

There are so many different ways in which to travel. And I don't just mean what mode of transport you use, but also what choices you make and what kind of travel you want to embark on. For example, would you want to live in Manhattan hotel apartments or in budget hotels? Someone may be able to travel around the world on the budget that someone else might need for a local luxury holiday!

As more and more people realise the accessibility of travel, new concepts are evolving around world travel. People no longer only travel for a holiday, but may also choose to adopt a nomadic lifestyle, working as they travel to different places around the globe. This type of travel is clearly not confined only to holidays; rather it is a way of life.

Couch surfing is another concept that is catching on quite quickly among budget travellers. Living in people's homes as a guest and sleeping on their couch is the basic premise of this concept! For budget travellers, this can be a good way to save money and make new friends. (more...)

The Most Popular Destinations in Australia

If you are considering a big holiday next year and your final destination is Australia, with such an immense country to consider, it can be difficult to know what the best areas are to visit and explore.

Everyone knows that the largest city in the country, Sydney, is by far the most popular destination for people travelling to Australia. This is home to the most iconic symbols of the country: e.g. Sydney Harbour Bridge and The Sydney Opera House, and you will probably feel as though you have never been to the country, unless you can catch sight of one of these landmarks.

The other big cities in the country also attract a fair share of tourists: Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane all do very well; but it is interesting to note that the actual capital of Australia, Canberra, really is not even on the radar of most people. But then, this is quite a small city compared with all of the above. (more...)

Travel for Corporate can Still be Fun

People travel for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes it is for a longer, planned and well deserved holiday, other times it is to visit relatives and family that you haven't seen in years. Sometimes there are even more sombre reasons to travel, and sometimes you just have to travel for work.

Inevitably this kind of travel has its draw backs. You are flown to an often beautiful foreign destination, but you are tied up in meetings and conferences instead of admiring the gorgeous location. There is any number of locations you could be sent to, even to corporate travel Sydney.

This is a perfect example of a gorgeous location which you might not be able to see if you were travelling on business. Round the World on One Ticket

One of the most important things you can do to broaden your mind and learn new things is to travel. It is so much easier to travel to different destinations than it was a generation ago, and the fact that it is now possible to reach the other side of the world in less than a day would have been unthinkable to our grandparents.

One thing that is becoming increasingly popular is round the world tickets. These mean that you can stop at various locations around the world and spend time in each one. There are different kinds available – some are flexible, but others you need to pre-plan your stops.

The Most Popular Mediterranean Countries for Visitors

Whatever your choice of accommodation when you get there: be it Italy Villa or a hotel in Croatia, there are certain countries in the Mediterranean region that continue to attract many millions of visitors to their shores each and every year.

The most popular for British tourists would have to be Spain, closely followed by Italy, France and Greece. These destinations really do guarantee a much more equitable climate than we are accustomed to in the UK and the resorts have been purpose-built and offer everything a tourist could ever possibly need.

Portugal is another very popular country, but has a shorter coastline that the other countries already listed above - the same could be said of countries such as Malta and Cyprus. (more...)

A Tour in a Lunar Caravan

The way we travel and see the world has changed dramatically in the last century or so. It is amazing to think that before the Second World War, leaders of countries would have seldom visited other countries unless they were very nearby, as there were no airplanes, and before the First World War movement was even more limited before the invention of the motor car. Go back 200 hours years before the train and it would probably have taken a day to walk to your nearest town if you lived in the countryside.

Our travelling experiences have therefore changed dramatically in the last century with the advancement is transportation, communication and mobility.

There are of course a large number of travel options available, but one which has the best value for money and is most fun is a caravan. Caravans have come a long way in the last decade or two. The Lunar caravans 2012 range is particularly impressive, and undoubtedly the best yet in their long lines of caravans over the years. If you're looking for a method of transportation that gives you freedom, flexibility and comfort then a Lunar caravan is ideal for a fun filled road trip. (more...)

Travel anywhere around the world safely
